Block Drop in a nutshell

Block Drop is a falling blocks puzzle. Shapes made of four squares drift down into a well, and you move and turn them so they fit together neatly. Complete a full row across and it disappears; let the blocks pile up to the top and the game is over.

  1. Watch a shape fall. A shape made of four squares appears at the top and slowly falls.
  2. Move it sideways. Slide the shape left or right to choose where it lands.
  3. Turn it round. Rotate the shape so it fits into the gaps below.
  4. Drop it down. Let it fall on its own, or speed it up when you know where it should go.

Block Drop questions

What are the seven shapes?

Each shape is made of four squares. There is a straight line, a square, a T shape, two L shapes (one the mirror of the other) and two S shapes (also mirrors).

What is a hard drop?

A hard drop sends the shape straight down to where it will land, instantly. A soft drop just makes it fall faster while you still steer.

Does the game get faster?

A little. Every 10 rows you clear, you move up a level and the shapes fall slightly faster, up to a limit. Choose Slow for a calm pace, or "Speed stays the same" so it never speeds up.

How do I score the most points?

Clearing four rows at once with the long straight piece scores far more than clearing them one at a time. Leave a single column empty and wait for the straight piece.
