Cribbage in a nutshell
Cribbage is a card game for two in which you score points for combinations of cards, such as cards adding up to fifteen, pairs and runs. Points are scored during play and again when hands are counted, and they are kept on a pegboard. The first player to reach 121 points wins.
- Deal six cards each. The dealer gives each player six cards.
- Make the crib. Each player puts two cards face down into the crib, an extra hand that belongs to the dealer.
- Cut the starter. The non-dealer cuts the pack and the dealer turns up the top card. If it is a Jack, the dealer scores 2.
- Play towards 31. Take turns laying cards face up, calling the running total. Score for making 15 or 31, pairs and runs.

Cribbage questions
What does fifteen two mean in Cribbage?
It is how players count aloud. Each different group of cards adding up to 15 scores 2 points, so you say fifteen two, fifteen four and so on as you count.
What is his nobs?
If you hold the Jack of the same suit as the starter card, you score 1 point for his nobs when you count your hand.
What is the highest possible hand in Cribbage?
The best hand scores 29: three 5s and the Jack of the fourth suit, with the fourth 5 of the same suit as the Jack turned up as the starter.
Do I need a cribbage board?
It helps, but you can keep score on paper. On a screen, the board is drawn for you.
What is a skunk?
In many games, if the winner reaches 121 before the loser reaches 91, the loser is skunked, and the win counts double.
